Since 1990, Gehl Company, a West Bend, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of compact equipment for the construction and agriculture markets has been a major player in the motorsports marketing arena, both on and off the track. By having the right equipment and the right corporate philosophy, Gehl has become an important part of the motorsports world.

Champ Car Holmatro Safety Team

In 1995, Gehl became the "Official Supplier" to the Champ Car World Series Safety Team. Race Series organizers saw Gehl equipment in action at various tracks and realized that Gehl Telescopic Handlers would be the perfect solution for removing disabled cars from harm's way during qualifying and racing.

Gehl provides a team of dedicated Telescopic Handlers that travel to select Champ Car street and road course events. They play a ciritical role in quickly clearing disabled cars from the track, sometimes with drivers still aboard. This also shortens yellow flag caution times, resuting in more action-packed racing for the fans.

This relationship has affored Gehl engineers and Champ Car officials the opportunity to work together and perfect techniques and equipment. This includes a specially designed swivel for the Telescopic Handler boom that attaches to race car roll bars, ensuring efficient and safe removal of damaged cars from the track.

This season Gehl will once again provide the Champ Car Holmatro Safety Team with Telescopic Handlers and expert operators at events including Las Vegas, Long Beach, Houston, Portland, Cleveland, San Jose, Road America and Phoenix.
